FouR BeauTieS

I'm just blown away by the generosity of some people.
But I should have realised that crafters are just that... generous!
Here are 4 (four) more tiny 24 inch squares of LoVe donated by O'Faigh. Each one will be added to the box headed for the John Hunter Children's Hospital here in Newcastle in New South Wales on the east coast of Australia.
Aren't they just gorgeous!
Why not stop by O'faighs blog..."Oldbury Cottage" and say hello.

O'Faigh... you are an angel !

Even the backing matches beautifully!

AnnUaL DoNaTioN

Today I delivered 18 little "Blankets of Love" to the John Hunter Children's Hospital here in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
I spoke to Maree again, the supervisor of the NeoNatal Unit, and was told that the unit had over 1100 babies pass through it in 2011 with only 3 fatalities. ANY number is never a good number but considering the total number of babies treated... that's pretty good. Of course these blankets also go out to the families of little stillborns in the unit next door. I didn't get a number this year but last year the whole floor needed 19 but numbers were down from that Maree said.
Some blankets even go home with live babies too (isn't that a wonderful idea as well) when a little one has stayed a long and worrying period under neo-natal care. Maree said that it gave comfort to the mothers of any long term patients by having something personal (made from LoVe) that belonged to their child alone, she felt.
Just one other way of offering a helping hand that I hadn't thought of.
In any capacity that these blankets are used... I'm just happy to be making a difference.
Thanks MUST go out to my many angels in 2011. Without the generosity of these lovely ladies... Joyce, O'Faigh, Maria, Shez and Sue B ... I would struggle under the weight of supplying the number of blankets needed.
Thanks 2011 ANGeLs....

If you would like to become an AnGeL too... please just email me.
Then you'll be able to add this cute button to YOUR blog to let everyone know just how SpEciAl you are!

AnoTheR AngeL Adds Two

My good FRieND Sheryl donated 2 lovely little Blankets of Love in September. They were beautifully made and I'm sure Shez added LoVe in every stitch.
Shez from "Enjoying Life" can now add an angel to her blog so that everyone will know just how special she is.

This one was made using a pretty owl fabric...

And this one using a colourful alphabet fabric.

I'm sure the grieving family members will cherish these Shez...
so ThAnK YoU !

As the end of the year approaches I have 19 blankets all ready packed to go to the hospitals. As I would like to give 12 blankets to each neo-natal unit in both Newcastle and Wollongong hospitals, I need to complete a few more before December 31st....  so wish me luck !

Three very generous and lovely ladies have donated blankets to the project so far this year.
Sue .... http://quiltedhugsandothernonsense.blogspot.com/,
Joyce ... http://youngbydesign.blogspot.com/  and
Maria ... http://maria-lifeontheblock.blogspot.com/
They all have their own reasons for making these small wonders but all will be accepted with LoVe.
Just click on the "Photo Gallery 2011" tab to marvel at their work.
Hugs go out to each one of them........
Please make sure you display the new "angel" on your blog.....

Donations Handed Over

In October 2o1o, I promoted my yearly drive for donations to this wonderful cause. Two lovely and generous quilters sent along 3 blankets and so today hubby and I delivered all 12 blankets to the John Hunter Children's Hospital here in Newcastle (New South Wales- Australia). This hospital is a regional one which covers an area the size of Britain (that's huge) and sadly the neo-natal unit needed 19 blankets in 2o1o.
I know the offering of these Blankets of Love makes a difference to bereaving families and so I urge anyone interested in donating a tiny blanket to contact me anytime in the future. I am so grateful for the opportunity to help in this manner and it definitely is a "FeeL GooD" programme.

This "Angel" can now be proudly displayed on the blogs of the two wonderful quilters Joyce and Crafty Pug.

ThAnK YoU both... for your generosity!

This unit has 41 beds and over 90 nursing staff.

This beautiful sculpture is adorning the waiting area.

Handing over the BLaNkEtS of LoVe
to Maree. (Unit supervisor).
